Honey contains compounds that can reduce inflammatory conditions that contribute to common ailments such as cough and colds. Its natural antibiotic effects can also help combat common viruses and bacteria that cause these respiratory ailments.
Mix 1-2 drops each of peppermint and lemon essential oils to 5 tablespoons of honey. Mix well and take 1 tablespoon of this blend a few times a day.
Mix together ¼ cup of fresh ginger, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, ¼ cup of marshmallow root, and 1 cup of filtered water. Bring the mixture to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer and heat until the volume is reduced by half. Strain the blend and cool slightly. Add ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice and 1 cup of honey.
